On 15th June, we celebrated Pollinator Day as part of our West of England Combined Authority Pollinator Project 🐝🦇🌹 The event was a great success, filled with engaging activities, informative talks and fun for all the community.
The day was packed with free talks in the Canopy, tours of the Garden and tree talks around the park. Visitors had the opportunity to join Tree Walks with John Atkinson and Karen Stevens, where they learned about the diverse species of trees in our park and their importance to the ecosystem.
Our line-up of expert talks included a fascinating talk with Jeff Bee, who shared insights into the vital role bees play in pollination and how we can help protect them. Ed Gilbert captivated the audience with his discussion on the various pollinators in our environment and their crucial contributions to biodiversity. Dan Flew rounded out the Canopy talks with an engaging session about bats, highlighting their importance as pollinators and dispelling common myths about these nocturnal creatures.
Late morning, we had the special unveiling of our Sensory Garden. Although it wasn't quite finished, we were excited to share its progress with everyone, allowing visitors to experience the sensory delights that the garden will offer once completed.
Guests also enjoyed delicious flower biscuits made with wildflowers from our Garden, available from Roots 🌼
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made Pollinator Day a memorable event! 💚
