Our beautiful Moon Garden has come on leaps and bounds in a really short time! See our video below to hear Head Gardener Lou talking through all its progress:
Some highlights:
Nicotiana Grandiflora, Night-Scented Stocks, and Night-Scented Phlox: These plants are flourishing, adding their delightful fragrances to the evening air.
Evening Primrose: This is growing great guns! While it's slightly overpowering the summer-flowering honeysuckle at the moment, we’re hopeful that the honeysuckle will come into its own soon.
Selene Noctiflora (Night-Flowering Catchfly) and White Borage: These continue to thrive, contributing to the Garden's night-time magic.
We’ll keep a close eye on these developments and can’t wait to see the full potential of our Moon Garden as the summer progresses!
Exciting Bat Survey Results:
We have also received the results from our bat survey conducted in May and discovered that our Garden is home to four different species of bats, identified by their calls:
Serotine
Noctule
Soprano Pipistrelle
Common Pipistrelle
This is super exciting news! Bats feed on our night-pollinating moths, which highlights another way in which the Garden contributes to local ecology.
Stay tuned for more updates as our Moon Garden continues to grow and evolve.
We look forward to sharing more with you soon! 🌝🦇
