Did you catch our amazing Head Gardener Lou on CBeebies' What's in Your Plant Pot the other day? We're proud as punch of Lou’s amazing work: she brought her expertise and enthusiasm for the natural world to teach a room full of curious children where our fruits and veggies really come from, and how we can turn them into wild and wonderful things once they're harvested!
This episode's star ingredient? The humble loofah! Plot twist for anyone who thought it grew in the sea: it's actually a gourd, closely related to cucumbers and squash, that only reveals its spongy, scrubby interior once it's fully dried out. From seed to sponge, it's one of Mother Nature’s most interesting plants (and exactly the kind of "wait, THAT'S where it comes from?!" moment Lou loved sharing with the young gardeners!)
