We are absolutely delighted to share the wonderful news that we have been chosen to receive funding from the Bristol Local Food Fund (BLFF). We are deeply grateful for this support, which will help us continue our mission to make a real difference in our community.
Community-Led Grantmaking
What makes this funding especially meaningful is that the projects receiving grants were chosen by a citizens' panel of Bristolians with lived experience of food insecurity. This approach, called participatory grantmaking, empowers communities by giving them decision-making power over where the funds go. We’re so proud to be part of such an inclusive and community-driven initiative!
BLFF’s founder, Michael Lloyd-Jones, highlighted just how vital this support is for local projects like ours, stating, “The funding is a lifeline for community food projects that are making a real difference on the ground.”
Funding for Food Justice
The latest round of BLFF funding raised an incredible £100,000 through the Anti Banquet event, held earlier this year at Ashton Gate. This impressive sum has been distributed among several inspiring local projects, all working toward promoting food justice and tackling food insecurity.
Some of the incredible projects funded include:
All Saints Parish Church
Black Mothers Matter
Borderlands
Bristol Horn Youth Concern
Bristol North West Foodbank
Bristol Somali Youth Voice
Caring in Bristol
Heart of BS13
Hillfields Community Garden
Incredible Kids
Inns Court Community Centre (The Mede)
Knowle West Media Centre
Project Mama
Redcatch Community Garden (That's us!)
St Luke’s Church
Sims Hill Shared Harvest
Travelling Kitchen
Wellspring Settlement
Windmill Hill City Farm
Each of these groups, including ours, is working tirelessly to support our city’s food needs, ensuring that everyone has access to healthy, affordable and culturally appropriate food.
Once again, a huge thank you to the Bristol Local Food Fund and to all those involved in this participatory grantmaking process. We are honoured to be among such fantastic company, working toward a future where everyone has access to the food they need.
