This Dementia Awareness Week, we wanted to share some of the amazing things our Art Therapy is doing for those with dementia. Read on to hear from Jenny, one of our resident Art Therapists at RCG.
One of the highlights of the Art Therapy team’s week is running Art Together, our art therapy group for people living with Dementia and their carers. This group is free to attend and has been running for over a year. Although it was originally due to run for just six weeks, we saw such a strong demand for the group that we applied for additional funding to keep it running.
As part of this work, our Art Therapists have completed CPD training in Dementia Awareness and are proud to offer much support to people living with dementia and their carers.
Redcatch Community Garden offers a warm welcome to everyone, including those with dementia, so please feel free to pop in for a coffee and cake, to look around the Garden or join in with one of our groups.
We are aware that the Garden can get busy at times and this might be a bit disorientating, so just let any of our staff or volunteers (often wearing green t-shirts or fleeces) know if you need any additional support. We are always happy to help!
